Five tiers, one namespace.
A complete research-storage architecture aligns storage to workload, not to appliance. Active data stays close to compute on high-performance tiers; capacity scales horizontally on commodity hardware in the LStore core; long-term data lives air-gapped on tape. A data orchestration layer — at ACCRE, provided by Hammerspace — unifies these tiers under a single global namespace, presenting them to applications as one system and orchestrating placement across them on policy. LStore is the scalable capacity core of that architecture; the orchestration layer and the high-performance front tiers are complementary components of the integrated solution.

of storage discipline.
Unique Checksum's principal led Teradactyl LLC from 1999 to 2024 — the technology partner publicly referenced in the deployment of LStore at Vanderbilt's ACCRE.
Teradactyl's flagship product, the True incremental Backup System, has since been refactored and licensed as Constancy™, a tape backup and archive engine currently licensed to ACCRE and being prepared for inclusion in the broader LStore solution set.
